What necessities and support are included in the program?

All food is included in our programs.On Weekdays, 3 good meals are included and on weekends 2 meals (Brunch/ Dinner).Accommodation in our programs are either in our Centers (shared rooms of 2-4 people) or at home-stays and in some cases at the project site. A 24/7 emergency number for each respective country is given, and support by English speaking staff on site. Greenway operated sites also have regular formal helpdesk hours for any feedback and questions.

Can I book a private room?

Accommodation while with us on site are largely twin shared and some cases (4 in a room), but for 50 Euros per week extra you can guarantee your own room. This can simply be indicated in the comments of an application.

What ages are allowed on the program?

We recommend 18-70 year olds for our programs. Individual travel for those below 18 is possible with written consent from legal guardian. Children (with families) are allowed where appropriate,at 50% pricing for 5-14 year olds. Recommended age is 18 years old for all programs.

When do programs start?

We have fixed starting dates, but all programs start on Mondays.
Weekends in most programs are kept free for:

  • Resting and catching up
  • personal travels with new friends (local staff are on site to help arrange!)
  • extra-curricular activities upon request: For example some extra language/cultural/fitness/oriental martial art classes (free) or extra weekend tours (extra costs)*
  • any local community functions we can make participants a part of. Schools love to invite participants to take part of their local activities!*

Where do you pick-up and drop off?

We have meeting points at specific locations for all Challenge Camps. We don't have drop offs.
If you require an airport pick-up, do let us know, we'll inform you the charges.

How are participants transported? What extra costs are involved?

Public transport arrangements (coach, taxi) should be expected when transferring to, from and between project sites. Open air cars are used often during the projects and within some program itineraries you may expect to use bicycles and boats sometimes!

Will I have access to communication, such as e-mail, international telephone and post office?

There are plenty of internet cafes all across Asia, and you can also easily buy a local sim card, don't forget to bring your gsm mobile phone.

Can a friend and I participate in the same camp?

Ofcourse, they are most welcome.

Can I choose which camp I want to go?

Prospective volunteers can choose which camp they want to join, and for which period. They can always join a camp, providing we have places available.

What about insurance and liability?

Our program does not cover any liability and insurance for volunteers. Therefore you must have appropriate insurance before joining the program.

What if I cancel?

How much extra money should I bring?

This really depends on you and your needs. For Challenge camps, food and living expenses are provided, so you will only need money for personal expenses. This includes transport, food and lodging outside the camps, and of course any personal shopping that you want to do on the side. You will also need some money to travel to the meeting points.

What level of interactivity is required for your Programs?

The main style of most of our programs is ACTIVE!This means that there will be lots of local inter-action, some travel, and you will need touse a lot of your soft skills and self initiative in our volunteer programs. For the Adventure & Learning programs, your active participation is required to makethe program a success. In all cases, Program Coordinators will be there to guide you and offer 24/7 support.

What to bring?

Bring along lots of enthusiasm and good spirit, it will be excellent for a great experience!!!

  • Adequate Clothes, sometimes may get rainy, or cold. If you're a volunteer, sometimes a bit of formal wear is appreciated.
  • Protective measures against mosquitoes.
  • Your mobile phone (it is convenient and extremely cheap to buy a local Sim-card for your mobile phone)
  • Something from your country (posters, music, postcards, map, video, food) and your family to introduce to your hosts, local children and the other participants.
  • Medicines you may require: especially if you have to take specific medicines on a regular basis, bring them along. You can bring a simple first aid kit with yourself.
  • A sleeping bag: (if required for your program).
  • A torch.
  • A photo or video camera (essential for good memories!)
  • Sun tan/Sun screen lotion, Hat

Also important is that you have photocopies of your passport/ visa and insurance and tickets. Please give a copy of your passport / visa to our local coordinators.

We advise you to travel light. Avoid heavy luggage whichwill weigh you down. Most things can also be bought in Asia for relatively cheaper prices.
