Education+ Renovation historical building + Environmental conservation

OBJECTIVE

the main needs they have identified and would like to address are:

 • To motivate/help the village children to improve the conversional English         

 • To renovate the historical buildings in the villages

 • To help the villagers to clean the village and strengthen the awareness of keep cleaning

•   Education and cultural exchange, where the institutions would like to promote the local culture and share others while educating students and giving them the opportunity to gain skills and competences.

 DESCRIPTION

 We work very close with the local community so we always combine the different work in one camp to achieve the most for the need of the community. The Education project can run year round but renovation historical buildings and conservation project are up to the volunteer numbers and should be arranged flexible. Our projects are:

 - The volunteers will work at different village schools to help the students with conversional English, to play games in English, which will be the best way to motivate the children to learn English. We can also have camps in our centers during school holidays. (from mid of Jan. to the end of Feb. and from mid of July to the end of Aug.)

 - The volunteers will work at some historical buildings to protect them. The volunteers can repair the stone road, to clear the yard or work on the small gardens around the buildings etc.

 - The volunteer will work in the village for recycle bank project. At first volunteers will help building the recycle bank where they can separate the garbage and can sometimes help by repairing the incinerator. Then volunteers will help to campaign about separating the garbage. And help for recycle the garbage such as making a fish from plastic bottle or paper, making a small flower from straw, making apron from milk box. And volunteer may help to making the recycle bin.

- Occasionally the volunteers can also collect the rubbish on in the village to strengthen the awareness of keeping cleaning. 

 LOCATION

 Gongcheng Yao minority Autonomous County is located in north-east of Guangxi Province, bordering on Yangshuo town in the west, 108km away from Guilin city. There are Yao, Han, Zhuang, Miao, Tong, Hui etc. 12 kinds of Minorities in this county, including 163 thousand Yao Minority, 57.34% of whole population.
