History The PitayaSuwan Foundation is the first entity of Greenway Thailand when it started its activities in 1998. Since the beginning we have also given the chance to join our work camps to Thai volunteers, especially those with fewer opportunities to study English, enjoy intercultural exchanges and improve their personal skills. In 2003 Greenway was re-organized to two independent structures: the non profit making PitayaSuwan Foundation for Community Development (corresponding to the original voluntary service structure we created in 1998), the Greenstay (dedicated to cultural and eco - touristic programs). In 2005 we spread our activities in other countries in Asia including Thailand, China and India with the formation of the Green Lion. International Networking PSF/Greenway is member of CCIVS and has supported several volunteer networks to establish in Thailand and Asia. We have also hosted several CCIVS/ UNESCO based seminars in our centers for the development of youth activities in Asia. CCIVS stays for Coordination Committee for International Voluntary Service. The Committee was created in 1948 with the support of the recently established United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). Its work relies on cooperation between national and international voluntary service organisations, which constitute its network of members. CCIVS coordinates the exchange of information and promotes international volunteers programme through: displaying information and documentation; organizing seminars, conferences, training sessions; promoting the activities of member organisations; contacts and cooperation with other international organisations; international solidarity campaigns and joint actions; studies and research work. CCIVS web - site is rich of educational and information material about voluntary service, non formal education and intercultural learning and contains the directory of all its member organizations in the different countries. |
